I saw on a mountainside
A city's life dry up and die
In a moment it was done
Etched to mind this unjust wrong

Hear the screams that never came
Feel that hate of atom’s flame
Slowly does my sight return
To see that all remains have burned

Watch the cloud float ever high
Feel the winter drawing nigh
Knowing this will be the end
Crying for we are condemned

All for dreams a man conceived
Ill-mannered thought driven by greed
Now the world must pay in blood
Sacrificing is bounty of love

Alone up top the world I stand
Become have I the last of man
To tell the future of this death
Silent ears that draw no breathe

Watching as we enter night
Blinded by this unholy light
Ending the pain and misery
The war that did not have to be

When you read this, hopefully you will understand what I am referencing. This is a fear many around the world have. Though the eye's on one such person who must live with the unthinkable, hear the tale of what may lie ahead. enjoy

Very similar to my style. The only prominant fault I see here, is the wordetched. I read this word so many times. Many a quick dip into a thesaurus is the key.

...engraved...

...burnt...

...carved...

...but not etched...

just my opinion.

Beautiful... A tad scary, though.

I haven't commented on something of yours in a while. And I must say that this is one of my favorite ones that I have read by you. The second stanza is great and makes you look back at the first and begin thinking about what is happening and a lot of images float around. As you get to the end, everything becomes more epic and interesting. Very well written. +fav Nod

Amazing... with all the stuff that's going on around the world it's especially dramatic and heartfelt. It's what everyone in the world should be terrified of...
